I’ve been shopping for smartphones on and off over the past month, mostly because I went to this fundraiser several weeks ago and the person sitting next to me kept taking pictures and posting them on facebook. I was all – Awww…I wish I could do that with my phone.
A day later I received an email from an old friend inviting me to start using some shopping app to get free money – yadda yadda.
I decided to start a mental count of everyone I know and whether or not they had smartphones.
I know a lot of people, and less than 5 still have old fashion mobile phones.
Still, I am not convinced it’s a good idea. I would rather go out to dinner once a month with my hubbie than have our cell phone bills double just so I can post real time drunk pictures on facebook and check email while away from home.
Yes, sometimes I am embarrassed that we do not have smartphones or ipads or kindles etc. Can you imagine that I still do all of my computer work from actual computers? I know in my ripe old age of 38, I am behind the times. But it is a choice.
It’s hard enough for me to look up from my laptop when my family needs me. In fact, I’ve begun turning off our wifi during the weekend and at night. I don’t think I would do very well having the internet with me all the time. I don’t want that.
My little girl is still surviving without her own phone, and even though her birthday list includes both a phone and kindle fire, there are still other items that her heart desires…for now. Ha!
Maybe I’ll start a slow phone movement. It’s really and truly not so bad.
